About the society
Now in its second year of running, the Technical Theatre Society was started with the aim of providing better collaboration between societies at York, to be a gateway for students who want to get involved in running shows, and a resource for other societies to easily find technicians and hire equipment.
We also give the societies the flexibility to perform in venues that aren't fitted out with permanent lighting and sound equipment, as we build up our portable tech rig.
Our training programme is based around ETC Eos lighting control software, on Gio@5, Ion and Nomad consoles. ETC Eos consoles are widely used in many theatres across the UK and US. A full equipment inventory is available in the Hire section.
We are partnered with Central Hall Musical Society, the Pantomime Society and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society and work with many other societies and groups across the university and the city of York.
